Ignite AI™ uses a Maqasid al-Shariah-informed ethical lens to support the responsible design, deployment and governance of artificial intelligence. The framework helps us ask not only whether an AI system can perform a task, but whether its use protects people, promotes benefit, prevents harm and preserves human accountability.
What is Maqasid al-Shariah?
Maqasid al-Shariah refers to the higher objectives and intended benefits of Islamic law. It provides a structured way to consider public benefit, justice, dignity, prevention of harm and responsible human conduct when evaluating new circumstances and technologies.
